Clifford started semi-professionally acting at the age of 16 in his local theatre (the Kenneth More, Ilford) and quickly established himself as a versatile character actor, and as a stand-up comic and magician on the cabaret and club circuit.

Turning full time professional in 1997, he progressed on to performing more and more cabaret, but still maintained his connection to the stage. Clifford has appeared in all genre of production from classics such as Marlowe’s Edward II, playing the scheming Earl of Lancaster through to comedies, farces and the odd musical. One of his most acclaimed roles was the patriarchal Big Daddy in Tennessee William’s Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, for the award winning Big Splash Theatre Company. In the past Clifford has supported some legends in the British theatre and cabaret circuit including, Danny la Rue, Bert Weedon and George Melly.

In music videos, Clifford has worked with Kula Shaker and most recently Cheryl Cole, Labrinth, Otherkin, JUCE, Tenman and King Krule. On TV he has appeared with Al Murray - The Pub Landlord, Russell Kane, Ruby Wax, and Keith Lemon. And has appeared as Santa for ITV Text Santa on the Jeremy Kyle Show (with Collabro, Chrissy Rock and Liz McClarnon from Atomic Kitten).

He played Sir Winston Churchill, in the acclaimed plays - The Public Interest and Farewell Winston. He has even appeared as Dame all over the UK - even at the London Palladium in a charity pantomime for McMillan Nurses which also starred Sinitta.

His other credits include commercials for Specsavers, Dr. Vegas, Transferwise, Capital One Credit Cards, The Samaritans and Cadbury’s Crème Eggs, TV shows ITV's Text Santa. The Create & Craft channel, The Ruby Wax Show and Ready, Steady Cook (Christmas Special). In the corporate world he has appearances for Nickelodeon, Microsoft, Manchester Airport Group and Facebook. He spent two years as Sir Topham Hatt (the Fat Controller) for Hit Entertainment’s Thomas and Friends and two years as Henry VIII at the renowned Medieval Banquet in London.

Writing and directing credits include a variety of pantomimes and children's shows including Aladdin, Snow White, Mother Goose and The Santa Show.

When not involved in show business, Clifford enjoys showing tourists around London. As Lord Hume (yes, he really is a lord!), he is an historian specializing in London's vast history, especially showing people the secrets off the beaten track. More information at historylord.co.uk.
